How The Food You Eat Help You Cure Diabetes?

Wednesday, September 5, 2007

Every food is a medicine. What you eat is very important from the point of view of your health. There are no cut and dry methods and medicines by which you can cure diabetes. In fact, perfect cure for diabetes is yet to be found, in any system of medicine. But, Ayurvedic medicines are far near to the point of curing diabetes. This disease can certainly be controlled by Ayurveduic medicines.
The prime concern in controlling diabetes is to see that the sugar level does not cross the recommended level. This means you need to avoid certain types of food and take regularly those food which are good for controlling diabetes.
In short, processed foods and junk food, must be totally given up. Avoid sweets, glucose, fruit sugar, cakes, ice cream, chocolates, soft drinks, cream and fried foods. White sugar and white flour also cause further damage to the health of diabetes patients. Anything that contains harmful preservatives and too much salt should be avoided. Smoking and alcohol are taboo as well. So, in conclusion, your food is your medicine.
Instead of the commercial tea, take green tea, parsley tea and blueberry leaf. Cook the kidney bean pods and drink that water—it is very good in the treatment of diabetes. Replace white sugar with palm sugar, dates and honey. Unpolished rice, sprouted grain should be taken in moderate quantity. Fats like olive. oil and peanut oil are good in diabetes. Drink abundant water, at least 8 to 10 glasses per day. If you can make the habit of it, raw vegetables need to be taken in large quantity. Cooked food raise the level of blood sugar fast. This apart, cooking destroys vitamins, enzymes and minerals in the vegetables and fruits.
The real treatment of diabetes is through the fruits that you take. Take grapes, Indian blackberry, fig, kiwi fruits and citrus fruits and pomegranate juice. Let these things be your morning breakfast. As for vegetables, onion, garlic, radish, cucumber, carrot, tomato, cabbage and cucumber are excellent in the treatment of diabetes. Moong sprouted and unripe banana cooked, are also recommended.
The next important part of the diet is to take those fruits and vegetables in which fiber content is very high. Such type of food lowers the need for insulin, the reason being it releases energy into the body cells slowly. High fiber diet means more chromium which is very helpful in the treatment of diabetes.
Some herbs and vegetables are specifically prescribed for diabetes, like Bitter Gourd and bitter melon juice.
Soak 50 gms of fenugreek seeds in a glass of water at night and drink the water early in the morning, after grinding the seeds in it. Draw a schedule, depending upon the level of your diabetes.

The Active Life Without Blood, Sweat Or Tears
Being active means different things to different people, as does putting in extra effort to be moreactive.
Some people will prefer putting extra activity into everyday tasks like:
- walking to the shops more briskly, - doing more gardening, - running up and down the stairs 10 extra times a day.
Others will prefer a regular or recreational activity - formal exercise sessions at home or in a
class with an instructor.
Many of us will prefer a combination ofthese things.
Fitness for life surprises us with just how little you have to do to enjoy health benefits.
Modern living has created a life of too much ease and whilst we don't want to put back the daily grind, we do need to be more active.
The Case For Exercise
Health and fitness are two sides of the same coin. In order to be fit we need to be active. If we are inactive the risks of ill health increases even if we are perfectly healthy now.

The more active we are the fitter we will be and the less we will risk ill health.

Being active involves physical exercise which means just about any physical activity that uses our muscles. It includes walking, going up or down the stairs, housework, cleaning the car, gardening or playing with children.

Inactivity leads to a poor heart and circulation, weaker muscles, thinner bones, less flexible joints, more fat and slower reflexes. It also makes us more susceptible to a range of illnesses, including heart attacks.

Health problems caused by inactivity include:

- obesity, diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure, coronary heart disease,
- osteoporosis, loss of flexibility,
- progressive weakening of the immune system.

Chronic fatigue and mental depression are also closely associated with a sedentary lifestyle.

With regular activity:

- heart function improves and blood pressure goes down,
- blood circulation improves,
- muscle develops to produce aerobic energy, increase strength and reduce fatigue,
- the flexibility of joints increases to reduce the risk of injury and increase the stability of joints,
- mood improves, along with confidence and reaction times,
- control of body weight is assisted and helps to prevent diabetes.
These are just some of the reasons for finding a regular series of acvtivities that prevent your health from deteriorating and improve your physical fitness.
The bottom line is that if you increase the amount of physical activity you do each day, not only will your health be better, you'll also look and feel great.
That should be sufficient reason to get out there and become more active.

How Can I Know Which Type of Acne I Have?
Copyright 2006 Tony Buel
How can you tell which form of acne you have? Is there a different treatment which is more effective against your specific form of acne?
Acne can come in many forms. I will try to describe the various forms of acne as well as explain the distinguishing characteristics of each.
There are forms of acne which are relatively minor and there are also some very serious acne conditions as well. The most minor forms of acne are also the most common.
This most common form of acne is known as 'acne vulgaris'. Acne lesions that are considered acne vulgaris are blackheads, whiteheads, papules and pustules.
- Whiteheads (similar to postules) occur when skin pores becomes clogged due to trapped oil, bacteria and dead skin cells. The surface of the skin becomes white. This type of acne typically has the shortest lifespan.
- Blackheads typically occur when the pores are just partially blocked by oil, dead skin cells and bacteria. Blackheads can linger for a long time and take a quite a while to clear up.
- Papules are red, tender bumps that have become inflamed but do not have the white appearance on the tip. Papules can more easily become infected and therefore should not be squeezed
- Pustules are similar to whiteheads but are inflamed and have a red circle surrounding the affected area.
Cystic acne is in the class of severe vulgaris can appear very similar to a nodule but a cyst is pus filled and usually gets much larger. Cystic acne is very painful and even if left alone can cause scarring. Squeezing acne cysts will most likely cause the area to become infected and cause it to last much longer than if the pimple had been left alone.
Acne that forms into nodules is also severe and shows up as spots that are larger and can be rather painful. Nodules are large, hard bumps under the skin's surface and can last for up to several months. Squeezing nodular acne will result in scarring and will also prolong the life of the pimple.
Acne Rosacea looks very similar to acne vulgaris and affects millions over the age of thirty. Acne Rosacea is a red rash, which is found on the cheeks, nose, forehead and chin. Bumps, pimples, and other skin blemishes accompany it. This form of acne also causes the blood vessels to become more visible on the skin. It is more common in women but more severe for men.
Acne Conglobata is the most severe form of acne. It is characterized by a lot of large lesions and widespread blackheads. Left untreated it ill result in severe damage to the skin and scarring. It is usually found on the face, chest, back, buttocks, upper arms, and thighs.
As with most acne, the cause of this form is also unknown. Treatment usually includes medication and is sometimes resistant to treatment. Strong and persistent treatment will conquer the acne in most cases.
Acne Fulminans is an onset of acne conglobata with symptoms of severe nodule cysts. Extreme scarring is possible and even likely. Symptoms may also include a fever and achy joints. Antibiotics do not typically work with this form of acne and oral steroids are normally the preferred method of treatment.
Although there are many types of acne the most common is the mild acne and is very treatable. Most people outgrow acne by the time they reach their thirties. If scarring occurs there are many treatment options for the acne sufferer.
Prevention of acne is still the best way to avoid any complications. If you suffer from an acne which seems to be more troublesome than average acne, a dermatologist will be able to prescribe a treatment that will lessen the swelling as well as prevent scarring.
